Jacky is a friendly and enthusiastic registered psychologist who offers assessment and therapy services for children and adolescents at our clinic.
Jacky is proficient in delivering psychological interventions including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), behavioural management, parent training, and social skills/ emotional regulation training. He has worked with children and adolescents with various presentations including anxiety, emotion regulation problems, attentional difficulties, challenging behaviours, and social skills deficits. Jacky is experienced with conducting cognitive and learning assessments, and is also available for preschool/school observations to provide recommendations for supporting a child’s learning and development. Jacky is also experienced in administering various assessments including diagnostic assessment for autism spectrum disorders as part of the assessment team at ACPC.
Jacky has had extensive experience working with children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in the last five years. He was trained as an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapist from Lizard’s Children Centre and has previously delivered early intensive therapy to children presenting with challenging behaviours and social skills difficulties at ABAlink. Jacky has also worked at the Sydney Clinic, a private mental health hospital, where he facilitated psychoeducation groups and delivered short-term CBT to adults with major depressive disorder, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Asperger’s Syndrome, and substance use disorder. He received his assessment training through external modes as well internally through ACPC working as a provisional psychologist in 2016-2018.
Jacky Au is fully registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). Jacky completed his Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Sydney with First Class Honours and furthered his studies with the completion of a Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the Australian College of Applied Psychology. He has published his Masters thesis on the relationship between circadian rhythms and mood disorders in the Journal of Affective Disorders. Jacky is currently completing his Clinical Registrar Program at our clinic to become endorsed as a Clinical Psychologist in the near future.
Jacky currently works full time at our Illawong office and administers assessments at the Westmead office on a part-time basis. Jacky also offers Saturday appointments.
